“Juan Carlos de Terry traces his roots to Ireland. His ancestors sought refuge in Spain after fleeing the persecution of Catholics under Oliver Cromwell. His family migrated to southern Spain so they could continue their viticulture activities. Juan Carlos has a doctorate in oenology, the study of wines. For his efforts to promote Bordeaux wines, France made him a member of La Commanderie de Bordeaux and La Jurade de Saint Emilion, in 1991.  He was awarded the prestigious Encomienda del Merito Civil in 2002 by then King of Spain Juan Carlos I for his dedication to promoting Spanish wines and gastronomy in Mexico and the Philippines. Owner, Juan Carlo De Terry of Spain and his wife have been building Terry’s Selection for some 16 years now. In 2015, Juan Terry was chosen to represent the country in the famous Madrid Fusion held in Manila last year which was a coming together of world-famous chefs for a gastronomic festival.

Some time after immigrating to the Philippines, Terry and wife decided to open a deli and restaurant at the Podium in Ortigas Center, Pasig. After long years of dealing in quality food and wine, Terry Selection–as well as Terry’s Deli–have become a byword in quality imported products both self-made and locally sourced. They now offer patrons no less than 1,500 products in their stores and restaurants.

 

No wonder then, when it comes to high quality international food options, Terry’s Deli and restaurant is among few choices opted by folks with highly discriminating tastes.

 

Terry’s quality is marked by Mediterranean flavour with a twist of southern European palate. That goes for both food and wine selections. Aside from gourmet cooking, Terry has an intense passion for winemaking, coming from a family that made superb wines for decades. In fact, his grandfather, Fernando A. de Terry, became famous for his own brand of brandy in the 1880s which later earned the family the reputation for making the most prestigious brandy in Spain in 1950.

With their excellent menus–just to mention a few–the Albóndigas in Ibérico Bellota Chorizo Sauce is among often sought-for selections, which is a delectable array of tasty meatballs with an amazing assortment of toppings. The Angulas al Ajillo is a noodle recipe perked up with the best veggie spice ingredients. And one should never miss Terry’s Paella, by the way.

 

There are also the Spanish omelets, Specialty Croquettes and salads.

 

For a memorable dessert, Terry’s Peach & Chocolate Symphony can never miss the mark. Patrons should also try the Flan de la Abuela, Creme Brulee and Marquesa de Chocolate.
