When Filipinos and some travellers use the word “Manila”, they are refers to the “City of Manila” and not “Metro Manila”. Metro Manila refers to the region that covers a wider scope and serveral cities in the Luzon Island. The City of Manila is just one of the many cities found within Metro Manila. Metro Manila is also known as National Capital Region (NCR) on the map of the Philippines.

In The City of Manila, Ermita is a district that is considered the center of the major commercial, cultural and financial activities of the city. This is due to the many hotels, casinos and offices located at Ermita.
