In Tagalog: Mahal na Araw
Translation: Holy Week
The English phrase “Holy Week” is beautifully translated in Tagalog because it uses the word “mahal” which means “love” or “precious”.
This week, Christians around the world follow the observance of Holy Week. During Holy Week, pious believers honour and reflect on the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of mankind.
Holy Week is all about prayer, spiritual retreats, reading the Bible, silent reflection and penance which are practised by all Christians in the Philippines and in other countries.
