Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival (November 22 – 24)

Every year, Negros Island has an annual gathering of organic producers, chefs, restaurant owners and consumers of organic products through a festival event entitled “Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival.” It is held every November 22 to 24 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds in the City of Bacolod.

Since the start of its celebration in 2006, it has been regarded as one of the largest fairs of certified organic products in the country and even named the Island of Negros as the “Organic Food Bowl of Asia,” being the major producer of organic products in the country.

This is an established organic food industry in Negros because of its strong private-public partnership. Many have been benefiting from this annual organic festival.  First, are the local farmers who  enjoy better prices in their organic products that are being bought directly. Second, there is an increase in agri-tourism and third, its positive effect as a whole to the  community, wildlife and environment.

How To Get There:

By Air:  The city is only 55 minutes from and to Manila, serviced by the country’s 3 major airlines such as Philippine Airlines , Cebu Pacific and Airphil Express (formerly Air Philippines), with four round trip flights daily.

By Sea:  Bacolod is normally a 20-hour cruise to and from Manila aboard world-class vessels. The Banago and BREDCO ports are the vessels entry point.

By Land and Sea:  The 18-hour travel time to and from Manila via land and sea transport is now possible through RORO (Roll On Roll Off) vessels traversing through the Strong Republic Nautical Highway using the ports of Iloilo, Caticlan in Aklan, Roxas in Mindoro and Batangas in the Province of Batangas.
