Lambat Festival (November 24 – December 2)

Pioduran is one of the fifteen municipalities located in the Province of Albay. It mirrors many under developed provincial towns throughout the Philippines, thus, relying heavily on natural local resources like fishing, agriculture and pastoral. However, it is blessed with  beautiful landscapes and rich in produce like coconut milk. No wonder  most of their dishes include coconut milk as one of the main ingredients.

If you’re looking for a different and memorable trip, this town is highly recommended for the  attractions it offers like the natural springs, waterfalls, caves, beautiful and unspoiled beaches and untouched marine life. Going around the coast, banana and coconut groves cover most of the place and used for making  Nipa huts and banka (the traditional fishing boats park along the shores.)

The Bicol region is known for its delicious and spicy delicacies. Some of them include the Bicol Express (pork cooked in coconut dish with many chilies), and halo-halo (iced dessert made out of layers of sweetened red beans, local fresh fruits and other delicacies topped with shaved ice and milk, either evaporated or condensed). Also, there is Laing (taro leaves) commonly used as staple vegetable dish and cooked in coconut  milk. Some of the typical Filipino dishes are also offered here like adobo, menudo, lechon and pansit (bato and canton).

Different celebrations  happen annually in every municipality and town of Albay. One of the forthcoming events for the month of November is the “Lambat Festival”  which starts on last week of November until the 2nd of December.

The event is in honor of the patron Saint Nuestra Señora de Salvacion. The people of Pioduran are very much involved in it and  many activities are being prepared each year. Some of the shows organized by the local government Unit are the street presentation, beer plaza and many more.

Everybody is welcome to celebrate this festival with the people of Pioduran.

How to get there:
By Land: Travelling to Pioduran is usually via Albay’s capital city Legaspi. Driving from Manila to Legaspi on the national highway will take about 10 hours.

By Air:  Legaspi City has a very serviceable airport with frequent flights daily in and out using Cebu Pacific; Philippines Air also fly to Legaspi. Buses to Pio Duran run every hour until about 4pm daily; the trip takes a little under 2 hours.
